An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Study of U.S. involment in the Vietnam War The Vietnam Conflict became an icon of the sixties representing America's political, ethical and social debate on the role of the United States on world affairs. It also became a convenient vehicle with which to voice the changing views within America. Today, there are many references made to the lessons of the Vietnam War. Although one can debate just what those lessons are, it cannot be denied that the Vietnam Conflict had a profound impact on the United States.
