From Caesar Salad to Cesar Chavez Lettuce Relish Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Latinidad
An integrated, interdisciplinary, thematic study of Mexican-American Culture and Literature. The Mexican culture is a vital characteristic of life in the United States, particularly in South Texas. This unit is designed to explore and increase an understanding of contemporary Mexican Americans through the hardships and celebrations of their ancestors. Using literature and various media, students will examine issues of assimilation, stereotype, identity and cultural traditions.
