An Integrated, Interdisciplinary Unit on Developing School to Work Transition skills for 8th and 9th Grade Students Transition planning is required by age 14 in the state of Minnesota. Students who have received special education tend to be under-employed, under-educated, and have higher levels of incarceration. Students need to be armed with skills to be independent, wise and wary consumers, creative problem-solvers, responsible employees, and effective communicators.
