Stalemate...Leads to a Brand New Game or War. What is it good for? Absolutely Nothing!
An Integrated, Interdisciplinary Unit of World War I The First World War came to be known as 'The War to End All Wars.' While that title remains associated with World War I, subsequent wars have caused us to lose perspective on why this particular conflict earned that title. Initially, World War I was not much different from the political struggles that preceded it, but this war evolved into something unprecedented in the human experience. It is not only the scope of involvement that marks this war as different. It is also the perception of the nature of warfare itself that brought tremendous relief to see the end of 'The Great War.' The sequence of events which led to the fighting, how it expanded, and how it, ironically, set the stage for World War II are the subjects of this unit.
