An Integrated, Interdisciplinary Thematic Unit on the Caribbean The importance of studying the history of the Caribbean (piracy, slavery, style of music, language) is essential to the understanding of our culture as it relates to music, shipping, commerce, trade, and its proximity to the United States. Students will learn about the islands of the Caribbean as well as the culture of the area and its impact on the United States.
