A Journey To And From Mexico And Beyond Or A Hitchhiker's Guide To Enlightenment

An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit on the History, Culture, and Potential Future of our Border Country, Mexico Much of our student population is from Mexican origin and is therefore sincerely interested in acquiring as much knowledge about their origin as possible. Through this unit, we attempt to provide an opportunity for growth in historical as well as cultural knowledge, and also create a self awareness which strengthens their self-esteem. Learning about their culture hopefully will create a strong sense of self identity and will give them the impetus to pursue their career goals. In addition to this, the unit provides students with the opportunity to utilize technology to research a topic, work cooperatively in a team of 4 people, utilize higher level thinking skills, and synthesize information to display on parent night.
