A Trip to the Spice Lands ends in a Trail of Tears

An integrated, interdisciplinary study of Native Americans and Explorers 5th/6th Grades This unit on Native Americans and European explorers is a study of the habitation and exploration of America. It begins by examining the four major cultural regions in the United States, followed by clash of Native American and European goals, philosophies, and traditions. The unit concludes by highlighting specific explorers, the harsh realities they faced, and the short and long term consequences of European exploration on the indigenous peoples of the United States.
