An interdisciplinary thematic 5th Grade Unit Exploring Immigration and Agriculture Contributions to the United States. The Immigration of people to the United States, independently or in large community groups, did not occur in isolation. As these humans moved from one location to another they took with them the materials they needed for survival and often comfort and pleasure. It is important to understand the reasons for immigrating as well as the effects of introduced species on the human and natural ecology. We need to understand the cultural contributions that humans have made as they have brought these living materials and their related knowledge, tools, and cultures with them.
