Ancient Egypt ... from Hierarchy to Hieroglyphics

An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit for Grade Eight on Ancient Egypt Egypt was one of the four major river valleys where the first great civilizations began. As one of these first advanced civilizations, the study of Ancient Egypt helps us to have better understanding of our own modern day civilizations by looking at its development in the various cultural areas (art, architecture, religion, government, literature, daily life, etc.) The study of this "unique" civilization will provide a basis for further study of their descendents and will show that even though the technologies and cultures are different, we al have basic needs that we strive to meet.
