Around the World in 3rd Grade OR The World in Spatial Terms, Places and Regions

An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic, Standards-based Unit on the World in Spatial Terms, Places, and Regions This unit is important because it meets Florida Benchmarks for social studies and Sunshine State Standards. The essential concepts of this unit are for students to understand key elements of a map, how to apply knowledge and how to apply a map. Students will also need to make connections between a two dimensional map and a globe. They will need to interpret geographic information from maps, tables, and charts. Positioning and labeling the seven continents and four oceans to create a world map and locating specific places on a number grid.
