Asia "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" or "The Multi-faceted Jewel of the East"
An integrated, interdisciplinary thematic unit on how the geography and physical features affect the economy and culture of the poplulation. This unit is important because it helps tudents to see the continent of Asia, its features, and its poputlations as a whole. It will examine the natural and political geographies of Asia and how they influence one another. It will also look at the populations of Asia (human, flora, and fauna) and how they influence, or are influenced, by natural selection and human interaction. Finally, it will examine movements withing Asia. These moevements will include the migrations of people and animals, the transportation of products and natural resources, and the steady flow of rivers, glaciers, tectonic plates, and weather systems.
