At the Edge of the Rim of Fire

An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit for the Seventh Grade Exploring the Economic Connections of the Countries Around the Pacific Rim. This unit will show how the life of our students in Vancouver, Washington connects to the countries of Japan and Australia, two other countries along the Pacific Rim. They will see how our countries are interdependent and effect each other. As we go on to study other aspects of the Eastern Hemisphere, they will have an idea of a personal and community connection to the places we study. The Eastern Hemisphere is a long distance away for the 7th graders in Vancouver. Hopefully, this unit will bring it a little closer.
