An Integrated, Interdisciplinary Thematic Unit on Traditions and Generation Gaps Between Chinese Immigrant Parents and their Children. As we move into the next century we are faced with the fact that our nation is becoming increasingly diverse in its culture and ethnicity, among many other areas. Students should be exposed to this idea so that they may expand their knowledge and viewpoints regarding the world: its culture and how culture has shaped history. Students may then analyze whether the "Melting Pot" or the "Salad Bowl" metaphor is appropriate for describing our nation.
