Brown Shirts, Yellow Peril, Red Scare, Agent Orange War's True Colors form a Somber Spectrum

An integrated, interdiscipliary, thematic unit exploring the effects of World War II and other international conflicts on individuals and societies. Our students are rather removed from war, though they are surrounded by violence and violent images. Students need to examing the past and present to have a sense of cultural and global history (where we come from), knowledge of current world events (where we are), and information to shape choices for the future (where we're going.) In this unit, students will gain a historical perspective of WWII and other conflicts involving our country, illuminating the economic, social, emotional, and other effects of war on individuals and society.
