Core Democratic Values or ... "Embrace Ye Freedoms While Ye May"
An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Approach on Core Democratic Values Our forefathers established a form of government that cannot survive without the active participation of its members. In order to actively participate in our American Democracy, we must communicate effectively with regard to who we are as a nation, how our government works, and what our obligations as citizens are to the nation and each other. The State of Michigan requires every student to be able to define, apply, and use critically the fundamental beliefs and principles that guide every facet of our lives. This unit is designed to give students knowledge of their rights so that they 1) will know if their rights are being violated and 2) can make more informed decisions now and in the future.
