Cross Words of Intolerance: A Historical Perspective

An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit on Intolerance Throughout the world and history, there have always been those who were hated by others for who they were, what they looked like, where they came from, or what they believed. Intolerant behavior forms a shared history of all mankind that is painful to read and think about, one that many of us might prefer to ignore. Only through knowledge and understanding of the causes of prejudice will the possibility exist that the next generation might break out of the vicious cycle of repeating this ugly, persistent part of history. Ultimately, in the global society and economy we are rapidly forming those civilizations that are able to accept, understand, and appreciate Diversity in a cooperative work force will attain a synergy that will benefit all.
