This is the first of four units that will satisfy the full year, high school geometry standards requirement. The essential concepts contained in the unit are directly related to CA standards 1.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 7.0, 10.0, 11.0, and 16.0. The identified standards identify, apply and extend the theorems and postulates of plane geometry by identifying applications within the students' environment. Specific polygons are investigated, points/lines/angles/planes are defined, two column proofs are introduced and utilized, and the concepts of perimeter and area are formalized. These applications form the foundation for the remaining three units that conclude with solid geometry theory and applications.
