An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Middle Grades Unit on The Pacific Rim The Pacific Rim provides students the opportunity to develop an understanding of Earth as a set of closely coupled systems. In this integrated, interdisciplinary, thematic unit, middle school students investigate and explore physical and cultural features of the Far East/Asian countries with those of the United States. Students will understand how physical and human systems affect past, present, and future conditions on Earth. Hopefully, the knowledge, skills, and attitudes around from this unit will enhance and deepen studet understanding our shared human conditions.
