Eco-Photo: Developing a New Land Ethic Through Photography

An Integrated, Interdisciplinary Thematic Unit for Ecology it has become increasingly important that humankind learn to live harmoniously with the land. For most of recorded history, we have polluted, scarred and destroyed our home, The Earth. On of the most pressing problems we face as humans is how to undo the damage resulting form the thoughtless use of the land and its resources over the millennia. therefore, it is vital that literate and environmentally conscious citizens solve the problems mankind has brought upon itself. In this unit, each student should develop a new appreciation for the environment and nature through the definition of a new land ethic. Photography and the arts will be the medium through which students will experience the natural world and promote their newly found environmental philosophy.
