An integrated, interdisciplinary, thematic study of life and poetry of Emily Dickinson. This unit is important because students will read and understand lyric poetry as related to the personal and social life and times of the creator. An artist's psychological state is reflected in his/her creative works. The themes that will be focused upon are nature: state of mind, spirtually: communion with God, organized religion, loss, and companionship.
