An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic, Standards-based Unit on Federalism This unit is important for students to learn because it is the pinnacle/foundation of the United States political system. Federalism is a recurring theme within the Social Studies curriculum and creates problems/controversies between the Federal Government and the fifty state governments. These problems arose during the Constitutional Convention and continue to cause controversies to this day.
