An integrated, interdisciplinary unit for 5th graders exploring the civil rights movement in America from Reconstruction to the Present. Our children today live in a diverse world. It is essential that students understand the importance of basic human rights and freedom. Through an interdisciplinary/integrated study of the Civil Rights Movement, students will gain an understanding of the struggle for human rights including the barriers, the methods, the victories, and the facilitators.
