An Integrated/Interdisciplinary Thematic Unit on Friendship for Third Grade In grade three students are moving from the family as their primary source of interpersonal relationships, towards friendships with other, usually same age same sex students. Friendship is a deep enduring affection founded on mutual respect. It is always mutual. The dynamics of friendship are ever present during our entire lifetime. Students will gain awareness of the importance and value and friendship. The first ten lessons are aligned with the California standards for Language Arts (grade three). The benchmark goals reference the learning goals established for the Friendship unit in Open Court Reading, Level 3.
