From Fruits to Roots- A Market Approach to Teaching Economics or

An interdisciplinary integrated approach to teaching economics and nutrition. This unit integrates economics, nutrition, and literacy with developmental activities open ended enough for implementing in grades K-5. The content is focused not only around Kentucky' Core Content but also important for students to connect to the real world and daily life outside the classroom. This unit meets the needs of various learning styles (e.g. provides experiences for kinesthetic, visual, linguistic, spatial, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalistic and logical/mathematical learners). The philosophy and purpose behind this unit is for all students to experience success and ownership of their learning by allowing choices.
