An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit on Islam This unit was developed to introduce sixth grade students to 1) major events in Islamic history and discover how they affect the present as well as the future; 2) the geography as it affects the Islamic way of life; 3) the intellectual and religious traditions of Islam; 4) appreciate the aesthetic culture of Islam through the ages; and 5) understand how aspects of Islamic culture and development have impacted Western society.
