From Horse Stalls to Hiroshima
An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Middle School Unit Examining the Role of Intolerance, Ignorance, and Fear Surrounding the Japanese Internment and the Dropping of the Atomic Bomb This unit is an integrated, thematic approach for junior high students to the study of the dropping of the atomic bombs on Japan and the internment of Japanese-Americans from a cultural perspective. Specifically, the unit will challenge students to consider the role of cultural ignorance, fear, and intolerance in the conflict between the United States and Japan. The unit will focus primarily on the culture of Japan from feudal times to post-World War II.
