An Integrated, Interdisciplinary Literature Based Thematic Unit of African American History from Reconstruction to the Present This unit is important because it provides a literature based approach to the cultural, technological, social and political movement and advancements from 1877 to the present, enabling students to gain insight into the African American heritage and how those movements have affected present day generations.
