From The Flight of Pegasus To The Fall of Icarus or Don't Forget To Wax Your Wings
An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit on Greek Myths and Legends for 6th Grade This unit focuses on the myths and legends of ancient Greece. Students will enjoy the fanciful events and clever heroes in the ancient stories, which have been passed along orally from generation to generation and which contain truths and ideas that are still important today. The unit will also introduce students to diverse cultural backgrounds and build understanding and respect among people of different backgrounds. Myths and legends have intellectual content that naturally invites students to think about and discuss symbols, values, and applications of a story to their lives today. In addition this unit is important because it meets the following South Carolina Standards in Reading/English, Listening, Speaking, Writing and Social Studies.
