Give me Rhetoric or Give me Death OR When "Because, I Said So!" Just isn't Enough

An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic, Standards-based Unit on the rhetoric of persuasion Grade Level(s) 9-12 Being able to recognize techniques of persuasion used in daily life is important to being an informed consumer of knowledge. People are required to make decisions often based upon slanted, incorrect, and incomplete information presented through modern media such as television, music, politics, the internet, and peer interaction. Students will learn how to identify persuasive techniques by exploring ethos, logos, and pathos as the basis of persuasion.
