An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic, Standards-based Unit on World War II World War II was an important event in the history of the United States. Man's intolerance of racial Diversity and differences among individuals lives on today. If we are not going to repeat history, we must learn from it. Many scientific experiments and inventions were produced during this time period. Some of these were to perpetuate man's intolerance of differences and others to try to halt the march of narrow-mindedness. World War II also impacted the lives of those left on the home front. The role of women in American society was especially influenced which had repercussions after the war.
