An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit on Industrialization 1865-1914. This unit is important because students are able to see the profound changes that the United States underwent from Reconstruction to World War I. There was rapid expansion of business, rise of labor unions, development of agriculture, and immense technological change. This period also experienced urbanization and Immigration on a scale never seen before. By studying this historical era, students can gain an understanding of why our society is like it is today.
