How Deep Is Your Love? Or Building a Bridge Over Troubled Waters

An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic, Standards-based Unit for 7th Graders on Self-perception and Acceptance Through the Study of Literature and Life Self-identity is critical for middle school students. Many have not yet developed a self-concept, which may lead to feelings of isolation, anger and depression. This unit will encourage students to explore their own identities and will emphasize the importance of accepting oneself. The key concepts are identity, self-image, independence and autonomy.
