An integrated, interdisciplinary unit for 8th grade Civics examining the function of political parties in the United States and how their candidates get elected. As American citizens and future voters, students must understand the political process to participate effectively in elections. This unit will cover the election process, including how political parties function, the role of special interest groups, and how both use the news media and advertising to influence voters.
