An integrated, thematic approach to themes and character development through the use of film. (Specifically Disney's Hunch Back of Notre Dame) for Grades 7 & 8. Events of the past have often been used by the film industry as tools of entertainment and springboards for ideas, but recently educators have begun to recognize the educational power of film and have successfully integrated it into their classrooms. Through the use of film teachers can create in depth integrated units that span entire curriculums.
This interdisciplinary unit is designed to give students an opportunity to thoroughly explore the themes, characterizations,, settings and history of a piece of modern children's film. As well as the opportunity to examine their own roles, morals, cooperative skills and leadership skills as applied to similar situations.
