I Wanna Shake Your Hand
An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit on the American Presidential Election Process The United States of America, in keeping with its democratic values, embarks on a journey every four years to elect, what some call the most powerful man in the world, the President of the United States. This integrated, interdisciplinary unit on the legacy of the presidential election process is designed to enlighten students about the social, economic, and humanitarian impact on our nation and the world as well as the rights and responsibilities of each citizen.
Although the process may seem routine to some, the orchestration of running a campaign, reporting on a campaign, and deciphering a campaign is a production of its own.
The students need to understand the complicated economic factors that are at work in candidate selection, the socially necessary two-party system of government, and the humanitarian (i.e. literary, musical, artistic) artifacts of presidential campaigns.
