I Wonder As I Wander or Sliding Through Greece
An Integrated, Interdisciplinary 6th Grade Study of Greek and Native American Cultures Throughout history people have used stories to entertain and explain. Myths and legends from different cultures help to explain nature and the unknown. Fantasy from Greek Myths to Native American can help to explain the world today. This unit will explain to students that myths are stories that originated in the oral tradition of ancient societies and dealt with events and issues that helped shape today's world. Current literacy will be emphasized along with these myths. Elements common to myths to super heroes, natural mysteries and values that reflect how society thought people should act. People express themselves in many creative ways. We use imagination to explore and explain the world.
