An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Study on the 'Affections' of Musical Anthems and Songs. Comparisons of music from around the globe will provide a glimpse of histories similar and quite different from our own as well as differing mores, values, and societal norms. Also, students will study the musical theory behind composition that allows a musician to manipulate, or trigger, the emotions and senses: pride, happiness, sadness, humor, anger, nostalgia, to name a few.
