An integrated, interdisciplinary social studies third grade thematic unit on understanding and appreciating our customs and lifestyle and the customs and lifestyle of our neighbors around the world. We are more alike than different, and it's the differences that make us unique. Lack of understanding and lack of appreciation for other's customs and lifestyles are at the root of conflict. Understanding who we are in relation to our neighbors around the world will prepare our children to live peacefully and appreciably in our world. Children will realize that we are more alike than different. And that it's the differences that make us unique.
