An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit of the Indians in Arkansas The Indians of Arkansas contributed greatly to its present-day culture. Many cities, rivers and other geographical features in the state are named by or after Indian tribes. The U.S. military to make room for white settlers forcibly removed the Indians from the land in the 1800's.
