An Interdisciplinary Thematic Study exploring the Industrial Revolution in the United States The Industrial Revolution is important because it gradually transformed America from an agrarian based economy to its present industrial based economy. From the invention of the cotton gin in 1793 to the big business mergers of industrialized America of the early 1900's students will understand how Immigration, war, development of a class system and long held American beliefs helped to shape both the Industrial Revolution and our view of ourselves today.
