An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit on Rebellion as a means of social change in the last half of the 20th Century. Rebellion has provided a paradox in American life. Revolution is critical to our political and personal heritage, yet we want others to be similar to us. In addition, groups separated by race, creed or age, particularly in the last part of the twentieth century, have rebelled against the status quo. This interdisciplinary unit will focus on the historical and literary incidents of rebellion examining the causes, events and short and long term effects. Students will explore the nature of those people involved and develop skills to evaluate the impact.
