Just Plane Good Sense: Never Bury the Hatchet

An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Study of Survival. Survival stories often appeal to at-risk students in any community. For many of these kids, daily life includes violence such as shootings, stabbings, drug deals gone bad and predatory relationships. Wilderness survival stories are an exciting and effective way to "hook the students" while teaching concepts of character education (i.e. responsibility, honesty & cooperation) within the genres of fiction, nonfiction and poetry.
