An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit Exploring East Asia With the turn of the century, students are finding themselves in a world that is gradually getting smaller. Our students are also facing the dramatic change of entering the new world known as high school. In studying the interdisciplinary/integrated thematic unit of exploring China, Japan, and the Koreas, freshmen students will learn about a diverse population and a rich cultural heritage. As part of a global community, it is important for students to understand and appreciate various forms of human expression and the importance of each person in their own community and as part of the high school as they make the transition from 8th grade to 9th grade.
