An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Study of Government. The phrase "We The People" describes the basis for our democracy. Historical events and writings that have occurred before, during, and up to present day have molded and shaped our country into the great democracy that it has become. From a very early age students should become familiar with the need for rules or laws, the rights and responsibilities of being a U.S. citizen, the development and structure of the branches of government, patriotic symbols, and the five basic freedoms. Through the different disciplines, students will learn all of these concepts and how they affect choices made in our democratic society. These will foster pride, tolerance for others, and responsibility of being a citizen of the United States.
