Lucy, Would you Die.. For Diamonds? How many SOULS would you abuse for diamonds on the SOLES of your shoes?
An integrated, interdisciplinary unit for 6th grade/gifted students examining the social and economical implications of the diamond trade. Diamonds... long thought of as "a girl's best friend"....but why? And should they be? After completing this unit, students wil have a "crystal clear" understanding of the formation of diamonds, as well as, the social implications of mining and selling diamonds. It is important for students to form questions about the value our society places on diamonds and learn about the cultures that pay the price for our extravagance.
