An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic, Standards-based Unit on Language Arts and Social Studies The United States is populated with a wide variety of cultures. The nation was founded by people who immigrated to North America from many different nations. Over the years, immigrants have helped shape the traditions and culture of the United States. When immigrants came to the United States, the immigrants often wrote journals, diaries and person accounts of their journey and experiences. This unit will look at personal accounts of immigrants, the immigrantês influence over the laws and culture of the nation and the acceptance of immigrants and minorities into daily living activities in the United States.
