Mi Casa es su casa or Chica, when will you come home to rest?

An integrated, interdisciplinary, thematic unit exploring the universality of human experience through the vignettes in the House on Mango Street. According to U.S. Census figures, Hispanics will be the most populous minority by the year 2005. A study of The House on Mango Street provides insight into the themes of Immigration and belonging, specifically into the Hispanic experience. As students discover other points of view and cultural perceptions, they will also see that for all differences - in language and culture- the human experience is universal.
