My Country Tis of Thee...Sweet Land of Liberty...or Maybe Not

A 5th grade interdisciplinary, integrated unit on the American Civil War and the Path to Freedom. This unit was developed to introduce fifth graders to 1) the reasons why slavery existed; 2) to appreciate people for who they are and not what they are; 3) an introdcution to one of the causes of Civil War.
