Mythbusters-An integrated interdisciplinary thematic unit on scientists and the scientific method.

An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic, Standards-based Unit on the scientific method and its application in the real world. Science is based on solving questions about the world around us. Students need to understand and appreciate how this process works. During this unit, students will learn elements of good research and develop the ability to find answers to questions using sources around them. Secondly, students will learn the elements of experimental design. They will be taught the steps of the scientific method, understand that it is used to solve problems, gather and collect data, draw conclusions from the data and reflect on reasons for error. Throughout this unit, students will work cooperatively in a group setting and build communication skills. They will also be introduced to reading strategies which assist them in understanding informational text.
