Northern News Makes South Sing the Blues OR Southern Moves Split the Nation in Two
An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit on the Civil War "All men are created equal" is the mantra that drove the Civil War. This War Between the States fulfilled the promise of the Revolutionary generation and the results remain evident in our communities today. The importance of this unit lies in its examination of the war between neighbors encompassing the moral and ethical dilemmas that faced the American people. The economic differences between the North and South that provided the backdrop for the conflict will be explored in concert with the war's impact on other aspects of society such as the arts, literature, science and technology, and daily life. This study will enhance an understanding of the Civil War and its importance in our country's progress both past and present.
